Serious Men Movie Trailer Review| Nawazuddin Siddiqui | Netflix

Releasing on Gandhi Jayanti filmmaker Sudhir Mishra says his upcoming film, Serious Men, is a story about a father who wants to create a bright future for his son. Serious Men, based on Manu Joseph’s namesake novel, is the story of Ayyan and Ojja Mani (Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Indira Tiwari), he film will tell the tale of an underachiever who tries to make it big in Mumbai after discovering that his child is a boy genius.

Serious Men trailer begins with a satirical, resigned ode to nepotism, how one generation’s wealth and effort cascades till the fourth generation, really, doesn’t have to work at all. This isn’t a tale of takedown, but of aspiration, to become the boss that calls you the knobhead, and not to knob their head off. But soon their child’s genius is co-opted as that of Ambedkar and Einstein and this spells trouble- politics and parenthood don’t bode well together.
